SHOW REPORT

The 64th Roos & District Horticultural Society Spring Show was held on Saturday 7th April 2018 at Roos Playing Field on a lovely afternoon.

A great day was had by all with lots of good exhibits of Floral Art, spring flowers and bulbs, vegetables, eggs, photographs and children’s entries.  This year FORS joined the show by doing the Easter Egg Hunt, BBQ and Bar which all went down very well.

Mary Jane Barker the Show secretary explained there had been a lot of change in the committee this year due to the resignation of Avril Crawforth the show President for the last eight years and longstanding committee member for the last forty years, Avril was presented with a gift of appreciation.  She then went onto to say the show Vice Chairman Chris Jackson had resigned and the show Chairman Richard Dovey had unfortunately resigned due to work commitments and presented Rich with a gift for everything he had done in helping get the shows ready. Mary Jane asked if anyone would be interested in taking on the role as President and then introduced Mrs Helen Dry a local resident in Roos to present the cups, trophies and rosettes to the successful recipients.

The 76th Summer Show will be held on Saturday 14th July 2018 at Roos Playing Field and it is hoped this will be well supported.

The show is now in desperate need for help to set the show up including the marquees on the Friday.  Anyone who is willing to lend a hand or requires further information please contact Mary Jane Barker or Laura Dovey.

Charity, craft and table top stalls are also available at the summer show at £5.00 each, to book contact the show secretary Mary Jane Barker on 01964 670259.
